# Fallback

The **Fallback** unit is used when the chatbot cannot match the user’s input with any of the predefined conditions or expected values.

## Steps

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Add a Fallback unit

Place the **Fallback** unit where you want the chatbot to handle unrecognized or unmatched user input.

This gives the conversation a defined path instead of leaving the user without a response.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Configure a fallback response

Before redirecting the user, you can send a response using the same types supported by Bot Reply, including:

* **Text Message**
* **Interactive Buttons**
* **Image**
* **File**
* **Video**

For interactive options, if more than three choices are added, the platform automatically converts them into a list with up to 10 items.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Redirect the conversation

After the fallback response, add a **Go To** unit to redirect the user to another predefined path in the scenario.

This is useful for sending users back to a main menu, another service path, or any other predefined point in the flow.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### What’s next?

Continue to **Go To** to learn how to redirect users to another unit within the chatbot scenario.
