# Input Value

The **Input Value** unit is used to define variables and store data collected from the user during the conversation. The saved values can then be reused later in the same scenario, sent to external systems, or used for reporting.

## Steps

{% step %}

### Add an Input Value unit

Add the **Input Value** unit at the point where you want to save information from the conversation.

This can be useful for storing details such as:

* User name
* Phone number
* User intent
* Product or service interest
 {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Choose how the value is stored

The unit provides two main options:

* **Assign a predefined value** — Store a fixed value in a selected variable.
* **Save user input** — Store the actual value entered by the user for later use.
 {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Reuse the stored data

Saved values can be used later to:

* Personalize the conversation.
* Pass information to an external API or backend system.
* Support follow-up and reporting.
* Analyze user behavior or interaction intent.
 {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### View captured values

values saved through the **Input Value** unit can later be retrieved from the **WhatsApp Leads** tab in the admin account on `livechat.taqnyat.sa`
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### What’s next?

Continue to **API Call** to learn how the chatbot can exchange data with external systems such as CRM or ERP platforms.
