# User Input

The **User Input** unit controls how the chatbot responds to what the user enters. It can be used to recognize specific keywords, accept general text, apply conditions, and save user input for later use in the scenario.

## Steps

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Add a title

Enter an internal title for the unit.

The title helps you identify the purpose of the User Input unit while organizing the different stages of the conversation.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Define the expected input

By default, the unit accepts **Text Input**.

You can use it to:

* Capture text or a specific value entered by the user.
* Use the entered value later in the conversation.
* Define keywords that determine which path the chatbot should follow.

For example:

* If the user enters **Products**, the chatbot can move to the Products path.
* If the user enters **Services**, it can move to the Services path.
 {% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Add multiple input paths

You can connect several expected inputs to different paths within the same User Input unit.

This allows the chatbot to route users based on the keyword or value they enter.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Use additional options

The User Input unit includes additional controls that can be used to manage the input more precisely:

* **Save Input** — Saves the user input regardless of its content or format.
* **Delete** — Removes the current input configuration.
* **Filter** — Applies conditions to determine whether an input should be accepted or rejected.

A filter can include:

* **Variable** — The data to check.
* **Type** — The condition used for comparison.
* **Value** — The value to compare against.
* **Logical Operator** — `and` / `or` when combining multiple conditions.
 {% endstep %}
 {% endstepper %}

### What’s next?

Continue to **Bot Reply** to configure the messages and media the chatbot sends back to the user.
